The Violinist in Blue

Finally did it! πŸ™Œ

Three days ago I received my new nibs for my tablet pen. In my excitement, I felt a sudden inspiration and attempted to paint without outlines. For this time I decided to draw my resident violinist Sylvette; I've been wanting to draw her for a while now and feature her with her violin. In the future, I want to draw her playing it, or her with her sister instead.

This turned out surprisingly great! Basically, all I did was I outlined with the color I wanted to use for a specific area and used my inking techniques to determine the shape of objects with the same color. You can see this particularly along her legs and most especially on her right hand, which I'm the most proud of in this piece, by the way.

Looking at this again and I'm just, honestly, wow, really. I've had this OC in my mind for so long like many others but it's such an awe to see her in digital, and in color, and with a fucking colored background, holy shit! Definitely the most fun I've had with art in a damn good long while.

Next time I want to draw her playing her violin, or her just spending time with her sister. Yes. In color. With colored backgrounds. Something that isn't just sky and a not exactly half-assed but if you think about how it came about it is kind of field of grass. Ugh. ART HYPE! πŸ˜†πŸ‘πŸŽ¨

Sleepy Stubby

As I mentioned previously, a friend of mine kindly gifted me Asperite on Steam. I booted it up a while ago and--as part of my resolutions this year--got started on an easy project: a simple pixel art of Stubby. But when I learned about all the neat things I could do with Asperite, I decided to take it up a notch and animate my work.

Although small and simple, I am very, very pleased with the results.

The UI on this app is pleasing to the eyes, user-friendly, and easy to understand too. This is my very first pixel art app and it didn't take me too long to figure out the basics. Coming from a complete beginner, that's saying a whole lot.

Seems like Asperite and I will be good friends from now on. 😊

2020 New Year's Postcard

πŸŽ† Happy New Year to everyone! πŸŽ†

Unlike previous years where I just posted something pretty half-assed for New Year's, I decided to draw something half-assed in digital this time! It's been a while since I've done anything digital, and I figured this was the best time to try my hand at it again and remember just how enjoyable it was. Certainly a welcome change from all the inks I've always been doing!

I actually wanted to add all the OCs I've featured over the past year. However, it turned out to be too time-consuming, so I settled for me, the lady, and the Gator Buddies cast so far (minus Nightlight). The others will have chances to make appearances in other posts later.

This year I want to really make more digital art than just inks. Ink art is great but now I wanna try other things, more digital things, more virtual and colorful art. I also wanna try pixel art too, after a friend of mine gifted me Aseprite on Steam. Some pixelated gators sound like good ideas, and it'd be cool to see some of my OCs as pixel sprites too!

I feel like 2020's gonna be a good year for me, work-wise and art-wise. I hope to be able to share more of my ideas here on my blog too, and invest more time for art in general. For all y'all who've stayed with me even until now, I'm really, really grateful for your support. Thank you to all of you, and I hope your 2020 will turn out just as bright as mine seems to be.

Cheers to the new year ahead of us! 🍻
