To commemorate a year of inking, I've decided to do a #throwbackthursday #flashbackfriday post of one of my first inkbook doodles.

Kamoro was first encountered as a Ducklett by Tori at the Driftveil Drawbridge. In a confrontation against some Team Plasma Grunts harassing some Trainers, one of the enemy's attacks hurled towards this unwary Ducklett, inadvertently knocking her out and off the bridge, prompting Tori to rescue her. Following Kamoro's rescue, Tori has since felt an obligation to nurse her back to health after she had fallen ill. During this brief time spent with Tori, she developed a sense of closeness towards the Trainer, who even took the time to play with her as she recovered her strength.
When Team Plasma attacked the settlement of the ex-Team Plasma members, Tori stepped in with her Pokémon to fight alongside Rood. In the onslaught, Kamoro joined in, much to Tori's surprise, and helped her defeat them. Seeing as she apparently had the desire to stay, Tori let Kamoro join her team, while Argentum and Dedoku were left in Rood's care to protect the tower from future attacks.
Kamoro has since played a vital role in Tori's party on several occasions. After her evolution to Swanna during Tori's gym battle with Clay, she had not only been a reliable mode of aerial and water transport, but was also capable of delivering more powerful and–with Tailwind–faster attacks, making her one of Tori's most versatile Pokémon.

Kamoro's name is taken from the Japanese words kamo rosu (鴨ロース), which literally means roast duck. Kamo Rosu is also a specialty dish in the city of Kyoto where the duck fillet is seared and marinated in soy sauce, mirin, and sake.
