Good god. Yes, I still can't believe it. But, after receiving the e-mail today from one of the Shiro Games devs, it's finally confirmed: I've won after receiving the most number of likes in the contest.
To everyone who has been supporting me in this contest, thank you, thank you, thank you so much for everything you've done. I would have never have come this far without your individual efforts to like my work and even share it around to other people. Coupled with all the work I had put into this project for so many nights while scouring Pinterest and DeviantArt for art tutorials, it's made me unbelievably happy to see all of it pay off after being personally informed that I emerged as the official winner.
Again, thank you all so much! Everything you've done to help me is truly and greatly appreciated!
And the other winner is…
Now, as mentioned in this Steam forum thread there are two possible winners for the contest. The first needs to have the most number of likes, while the second is chosen by the devs of Shiro Games. Of course since I've already claimed the former, the only question now is who's worthy to take the latter.
The result was rather unexpected, but nonetheless:
Congratulations to Mokota for being chosen by the Shiro Games devs!
The honorable mention
Also, while not as noteworthy, coming in second for the votes (and admittedly also quite the contender for the most likes)…
Close, but no cigar.
Note: All of these screenies were taken right after the clock hit 12:00 a.m. EST on August 25. Just wanted to be clear about that, for those who are wondering.
The other, more deserving winner (in my opinion)
I'll be honest. I'm really happy that I won the contest thanks to everyone who liked my work and supported me all the way through. But if there's one other contender whom I genuinely believe deserves the better spotlight…
A bright, verdant background, contrasted by the vibrant oranges of the flower petals and Kuro's hair: this sunlit scenery combines the use of lighting and perspective to paint a pleasantly cool and refreshing illustration of the Sylph Forest for the eyes of its beholders.
Ladies and gentlemen, out of the other 6 participants in the contest, only Vincent Powell and his work make the cut.
Much respect to your artwork and your techniques, good sir. You certainly deserve it.
So, what now?
The prizes have yet to arrive in my mailbox, but I feel it's likely I won't get them any time soon. The contest is officially over, yes. But for me, until I actually receive the prizes and hold them in my hands, I don't think I can properly close the #evoland2fanartcontest arc just yet.
Until then, I'll be going back to writing my short stories and making a few doodles or artwork here and there, all the while eagerly awaiting the arrival of my very own Game of Cards card deck and other Evoland 2 paraphernalia.
Once again, thank you so much to everyone who helped me win the contest! I can't really thank all of you enough it seems, but I don't know how else to truly show my gratitude.
Cheers to more success in the future!
